HOW IT STARTED

Pretty disordered—especially my eating patterns. It's a challenge that I can't pin on any single event or influence, but from age 12 through a lot of my 20s, it ate at me. Whether the struggle was fed by societal pressures or an attempt to meet a perceived “beauty standard,” the recovery was hard all the same. And it was far from linear. Each person's journey through an eating disorder is unique. For me, it took all the way until after college to recognize that my body couldn’t take it anymore, and neither could the rest of me.

I needed an outlet. Then quarantine started, so I also needed a distraction.

Turns out, TikTok is kind of perfect for that...

After a hard day of clumsy dances for the camera, I ordered a mega-spread from Taco Bell, and hit record for that too. It was my experiment with self-embrace. Surprisingly, a lot of people watched it; SHOCKINGLY, a lot of people LOVED it. I had to verify it wasn’t a fluke, so the experiment just kept going, and HERE WE ARE YEARS LATER in the best Big Daddy cross-platform community that I didn’t even know I needed.

It's thanks to you guys that I've truly learned to love and develop a healthy relationship with food and my body. It’s a better lifestyle and a less lonely one too—Big gratitude for all you Big Daddies!
